  1. Introduction
    These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of services provided by Sharp Matters, a professional knife sharpening, repair, and custom knife-making business operating in London and across the UK via courier. By booking or using our services, you agree to these Terms.
  2. Services Covered
  • Mobile (in-person) knife sharpening in London
  • Courier-based knife sharpening across the UK
  • Knife repairs and restorations
  • Scissors and tool sharpening
  • Custom knife making
  1. Bookings and Appointments
  • All services must be booked in advance via our website, phone, email, or WhatsApp.
  • We aim to accommodate all requests, but availability is not guaranteed until confirmed.
  • Minimum of 3 items required for in-person sharpening.
  1. Pricing and Payment
  • Current pricing is listed on our website and may change without notice.
  • In-person services: payment is due upon completion, via cash, bank transfer, or PayPal.
  • Courier services: payment is due before knives are returned.
  • Custom knife commissions may require a non-refundable deposit.
  1. Minimum Charges
  • For mobile sharpening, a minimum callout value of £25 applies (this is not an added fee).
  • No minimum charge applies for courier services.
  1. Gift Vouchers
  • Vouchers are valid for up to 5 knives unless otherwise stated.
  • Vouchers are non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and expire on the date noted.
  1. Cancellations and Rescheduling
  • We request at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. No refund will be processed for cancellations after this deadline.
  • Deposits for custom knife orders are non-refundable but may be applied to rescheduled services at our discretion.
  1. Transport and Safety
  • In-person services: Customers do not need to package or prepare knives in advance. We provide secure carriers on arrival.
  • Courier services: Knives must be securely wrapped. We offer guidance and packaging advice. We take no responsibility for damage sustained during shipping.
  • Clients are responsible for safely transporting knives. Carrying knives openly in public is illegal in the UK.
  • Sharp Matters is not liable for incidents arising from improper transport or packaging.
  1. Risk and Liability
  • We take great care in handling your tools, but are not responsible for pre-existing damage, including:
    • Cracked, rusted, or loose handles
    • Deep chips or warped blades
  • Some issues may worsen during sharpening or repair. This is particularly true for knives already structurally compromised.
  • Knives are returned extremely sharp. Clients must use caution and store them safely.
  • We recommend washing knives again before use, even though they are cleaned during the sharpening process.
  1. Courier Handling and Insurance
  • Courier shipments are insured through our courier partners.
  • Clients must package knives securely. We are not liable for damage caused in transit due to inadequate packaging.
  • We maintain communication throughout the courier process to confirm drop-off, sharpening, and return delivery.
  • All shipping arranged by Sharp Matters is insured up to a value of £200. If you are sending us knives the value of which exceeds £200 you must let us know and we will arrange insurance for higher value. If you fail to notify us that the value of the knives exceeds £200, we assume no responsibility for damage or loss.
  1. Custom Knife Making
  • All commissions are unique and made to client specifications.
  • Lead time and cost estimates will be confirmed before payment.
  • Deposits are non-refundable once production begins.
  1. Changes to Services or Terms
  • We may update these Terms at any time. The latest version will always be available on our website.
  • Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any updated Terms.
  1. Governing Law
  • These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
  • Any disputes arising from these Terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of English courts.
