Repairs and Restorations

From Broken Tips to Beautiful Blades

Every knife has a story — and sometimes, that story includes a broken tip, a chipped edge, or a handle that’s seen better days. At Sharp Matters, we don’t just sharpen knives; we bring them back to life.

From minor touch-ups to full restorations, we approach every repair with the care and precision of a skilled knife maker.

What We Repair

We assess each blade individually and offer realistic advice about what’s fixable and what’s worth restoring. Our repair services include:

  • Tip restoration (broken, bent, or chipped tips)
  • Edge repair (chip removal, re-profiling, reshaping)
  • Blade straightening (where safe and appropriate)
  • Handle repair or replacement (available for many styles)
  • Rust removal and deep cleaning
  • Sharpening as finishing touch (included after any structural repair)

What Makes Our Repairs Different?

Because we also make custom knives, our workshop is equipped for much more than basic sharpening. We can reprofile blades, work with different steel types, and match or replace handles with appropriate materials. Our experience with balance, weight, and geometry means we don’t just repair damage — we restore performance.

We also take the time to talk you through the condition of your knives and the options available.

Repair Pricing Guide

Each job is priced based on condition, time, and materials. Here are some common ranges:

  • Minor repair (tip restoration, small chip removal): £10–£15
  • Moderate repair (larger chips, partial re-profiling): £20–£30
  • Major repair (heavy reshaping, regrinding, warped blades): £35–£45+
  • Handle repair or replacement: priced on request

Not sure? Send us a few photos and we’ll be happy to offer a preliminary quote.
